Salt Edge

Salt Edge is an open banking platform connecting to over 5,000 banks across 50 countries, with more than 300 companies already building on it.

Its eCommerce Payments product gives UK merchants a pay by bank option at checkout. Shoppers approve the payment inside their own banking app with strong customer authentication, so no card details ever reach the store. Funds settle instantly over Faster Payments rather than on T+2, and because the payment is authorised at the bank there are no chargebacks to defend. Refunds are sent bank to bank around the clock, including weekends and bank holidays, and transactions, refunds and settlements sit in a single merchant dashboard.

Merchants go live through a store plugin and a self-service onboarding flow that together take about five minutes, with no developer involvement and no sales call. Pricing is a flat 1% plus 10p per transaction, with no setup fees and no minimums. More than 100 UK banks are supported at launch, with further store platforms rolling out.
