This index, based on data from a sample of 450 UK retailers on the Mention Me platform, tracks two metrics across four categories:

  • ‘Share rate’ – the percentage of customers sharing brands with friends (of those invited to refer)
  • ‘Purchase rate’ – the percentage of these referrals that convert into new customers

The categories are listed below in order of share rate. The correlation of high share rate and high purchase rate suggest that recommendations remain a powerful influence on shopper behaviour. These figures are reporting October – December 2021
