Overview

September Key Highlights:

  • UK online retail sales in September 2021 reported a 12.5% Year-on-Year decrease
  • Month-on-Month the industry increased 2.1% from August

Online retail posted a 12.5% Year-on-Year decline in September, which continues the current trend of unfavourable performance compared to last year. The most interesting result from September is the market’s first Month-on-Month increase since April (September posted a 2.1% rise from August.) Online retail had continually reported lower and lower revenues each month since the high street reopened in Spring. The change in fortunes for September was driven predominantly by a strong performance from Electricals and Beauty, along with a good, but not great, result from Clothing.
