imio powers automated jewellery packing at QVC

Warehouse software and automation provider Conveyor Networks have installed 3 automated jewellery packing lines for leading retailer QVC UK at their Customer Operations Centre in Merseyside.

QVC were installing 3 bagging machines for their jewellery packing.  They asked Conveyor Networks to create data and user software interfaces to run the lines effectively.

imio software is already installed at QVC where it manages their automated and manual pack functions.  A repeat order for imio was placed because of the value gained from:

In this case imio interfaces with three PS 125 Table top baggers from Automated Packaging Systems, as well as a micro controller to allow the line to operate correctly.  The table top baggers have the advantage of a small footprint and are electric, eliminating the need for a compressed air supply.  The bags are automatically indexed, loaded by hand and sealed using a push to seal function which gives a throughput in excess of 25 bags per minute.

Conveyor Networks collaborated with Automated Packaging Systems to undertake pre-installation testing in their workshop. Onsite testing was also built into the schedule. Conveyor Networks’ ongoing support provides QVC with extra security as they can remotely access the system at any time and imio’s Failover app automatically switches servers if a problem is detected.

When imio combines with machinery the benefits are faster, clearer processes with accurate tracking and reporting from software that integrates seamlessly with other management systems.

Andy Shuker, Warehouse Systems Manager at QVC commented “We constantly need real time operational updates.  This latest version of imio provides a clear picture of what’s happening with our high value goods. It also allows us to maximise throughput and meet our customer service commitments.”
