2019 is likely to be written into the retail history books as the lethargic year. The market, so far, has trudged its way through months of underwhelming growth, with the stellar growth of the first half of 2018 only compounding the state of this year’s dreary arena.

However, 2018’s festive period was marked by shallow growth, which represents – in theory at least – potential for retail to turn the tables and regain some of the deficit inflicted earlier this year. This opportunity lies, in part, in understanding previous patterns and trends from that period, and IMRG have accrued a host of Black Friday / peak sector data to enable retailers to see which perform well, and the types of campaigns which are being used.
