How Online Shoppers Pay in European Markets

Supported by J.P. Morgan

Ever since a certain referendum in 2016, the amount of deliveries being exported to mainland Europe has seen a significant increase. With a consistently strong euro weighing against a weak sterling, online European customers are sourcing a lot of their goods from UK retailers.
The way they are paying for these goods varies substantially from country to country. Sociological, technological, economic, and political conditions can affect the expenditure of a population, but what can often go overlooked, is that the payment mechanisms themselves also differ quite profoundly.
This report gives an overview of payments in Europe, and explores in-depth the way online shoppers are paying in the top five European recipients of UK deliveries.
