Retailers using Next Day to drive customer loyalty

  • UK e-retailer order volumes remain steady at 16% above that of last year with an increasing proportion being sent by Specified / Next Day delivery services.
  • The increase in the use of these time definite services appears to be having a detrimental impact on quality of service with failed on-time delivery, first time delivery and addressing problems all on the increase.
  • Cross-border delivery remains strong on the back of the weak pound which is also fuelling higher cross-border basket values, although UK orders are also performing well in this respect.
