In 2016, we recorded a notable shift in the IMRG MetaPack Delivery Index over the peak Christmas trading period. The month-on-month order volume growth between November and December 2016 was just +4.5% – far lower than the equivalent in 2015.
The January 2017 IMRG Capgemini Sales Index revealed that 54% of mobile retail sales in December 2016 were made on smartphones. This represents a dramatic increase on December 2015, when tablets still dominated, with sales on smartphones taking a 39% share.

Online retail order growth was up 11.3% year-on-year in January, according to the latest data from the IMRG MetaPack UK Delivery Index. Growth in January was also down -32.1% on December, in line with the established pattern at this time of year.
UK online retail sales were up +12% year-on-year (YoY) in January, according to the latest figures from the IMRG Capgemini e-Retail Sales Index. This represents a steady start to the year for online sales, having built on a solid performance in January 2016.
The latest data from IMRG and MetaPack reveals that the typical delivery timeframe appears to be shrinking – as next-day delivery services are accounting for a greater share of online orders.
