In what way was it inconvenient?

Parcel taken back to local post office who require 2 days before it can be collected.

It was at the wrong time and then a nightmare to get it redelivered.

Timing. A specific time not given.

Delivered to wrong address, huge number of late/ lost parceld from Parcelforce.

Attempted delivery when I was out, and the courier company being very inflexible as to times for reattempting delivery, or even letting me know what time of day (approximately) they would deliver.

I have had problems with couriers not being able to find the address, and not delivering on the specified day or being able to give a time of delivery.

No one at home.

Delivery went to wrong address (Home instead of work).

Arrived when no one at home.

I had ordered an outfit for a wedding that was delivered in a large flat 'suit' box. Instead of leaving in the porch like normal, it was left inside the wheely bin, and I only realised when I put a sack of rubbish in on top.

Having to collect from depot.

Needed to be delivered on a day I was out but was left with a neighbour.

Tesco were running late and I was going out, so they delivered in the evening instead, and came earlier than promised when I was still out.

When it took too long to arrive, or was constatly postponed.

City-Link. No parcel arrived. I called the depot. Advised it had been delivered (I had been home all day). On investigation it had gone to 8 Queens ROAD and not 8 Queens Court. I went to the address, retrieved the package which had been correctly labelled so City-Link error. City-Link refused to accept that there had been a problem. If I had not resolved the issue myself I probably would never have received the package.

It was sent back as I was in but not given chance to answer the door.

I had to go to the Post Office to pick it up as I wasn't in at the time it was delivered.

Some items have not been delivered during the specified timeframe.

It arrived at 5a.m!

When I did work, I had to have time off.

Had to go to warehouse to pick it up.

We have had an organic veggie box left in full view, which was stolen. Have also had one left out in rain, and veg was ruined.

Not delivered on first attempt and they re-delivered the item and also on another not emough postage put on item as it was sent from usa.

It was delivered in the brief half an hour I was out. I then had to get the delivery rearranged.

I FIND IT INCONVENIENT WHEN YOU HAVE TO STAY IN ALL DAY AND THEY CANNOT SPECIFY AM OR PM.

Friday afternoon when I was out.

No one at home.

It arrived before I got up.

Companies such as Argos/Currys expect you to stay in all day to await delivery of items.They need to improve time banding system for deliveries. It can be very inconvenient.

Unannounced delivery five days before the senders 'estimated' delivery date.

Had 2 wait 24 hrs then collect from post office, which isn't open when I finish my shift.

Delivery is too slow.

Had to pick up from depot which is a long way away.

7am in the morning.

Left with a neighbour.

Delivered on wrong day.

All deliveries from CityLink are inconvenient as unlike all other companies, convincing them to get a neighbour to sign for the package is practically a full-time job! They make things very difficult for people who aren't at home during the day and have terrible customer service. I never order online if I know the company will be using CityLink for the delivery.

Arrived when I and alternative delivery point was out.

I was not home.

Out At work , wrong delivery time.

The item was not meant to be signed for and the courier company insisted it was and there was nobody home to sign for it. They did this twice before the item arrived without having to be signed for. Also I have items not delivered in time for Christmas.

Only that the depo was miles away so I had to drive a fair distance to pick it up, a bit annoying when you've paid for delivery.

Time slot given was 7am - 7pm.

It was delivered to my home in error.

Noone was home, and taken to nearest depo (30 miles away).

I had to collect from the sorting office.

Many times due to the timing of the delivery which is invariably anytime between 8.00 a.m. and 6.00 p.m. On more than one occasion I have waited in all day to find that the delivery has failed either because they have not shown up or I have found a note through the letterbox to say they have called when they clearly haven't bothered to ring the door bell or have done so and not given me enough time to answer the door (my property is on 4 floors which is quite obvious from the outside...).

I had gone on holiday and no one was home to pick the package up. In this case it had to be picked up at the post office.

At work and a signature required.

I waited in all day for it to be delivered the next day, or the delivery was after 6 at night.

Post office not delivering, then returning an item.

Impossible to arrange a timeslot with the courier, as they need a signature from the person receiving it, not just anyone in the flat. has happened with my mobile that I had to take a day off to go to the depot in the outskirts of London to pick it off. As a temporary worker, that means it costed me almost £70 to pick it up, add to that the travel!

Delivered to home, but no-one there so they took it to the delivery company's warehouse 10mi away and sent me a letter to tell me to go and pick it up myself!

Wasn't expecting it on that day and no-one was is.

A toilet which was nt delivered on the correct day but the day after- then itv was in the evening not the day - and it was broken!

When I wasn't in they expected me to travel 15 miles to pick a parcel up!

Non flexible delivery time.

It was later than agreed and I was on my way out and could not unpack my shopping.

I ordered a bed and the time slot they gave me was 7am-7pm so I had to wait in all day which I found unacceptable.

One of the seller was dodgy so I never recieved my item. But its perfectly fine with reputable sellers.

I missed the time slot and had to pick the parcel up from a depot that was a few miles away!

After waiting in all day and taking a day off work to have items delivered I was phoned at 5 pm to say the delivery could not be made that day. Also almost every delivery has apparent diffculty finding my address despite the fact that the house has ben there for over 20 years, the street is not off the beaten track and the town is not large. My house number is prominently disolayed and also the street is displayed. Despite all this deliveries have a 5% chance of reaching me at a decent time or even in most cases delivery companies having to phone me for directions. No need for this inconvenience.

Arrived when I wasn't in had to go to post office.

Retailer would not deliver to my office at all or to my home at the weekend. In the end I had to cancel the order.

Came before they said it would, so I was out.

I wasn't in, and had to go over to a the courier company to collect because they were so incompetent at doing a timed redelivery.

Only in that I have been unable to ascertain a time and therefore been out when it arrived.

Sometimes the stated delivery date is missed and their is no-one in the the day they do come.

Waited in for a promised delivery and it never arrived.

It was booked as a next day am delivery and it didnt arrive until 5pm and I was supposed to go to work at 4pm.

The courier failed to knock at my door. He simply put a card through. I was standing in the hallway when he was there so there was no excuse that I could not hear him knocking. I had to open the door and call him back.

I had to collect from the City Link depot, which is about 30 miles away.

It was not delivered on the specified day and when it was delivered no one was in to recieve it. I then had to go the central post office to collect the item.

I had to stay in all day awaiting a delivery only to discover the driver had tried to deliver to the rear of the building and did not alert me to his presents there.

It was delivered much later than promis and by the time it was delivered I was abroad. The package was returned to the original address and I have never seen it.

Item (radiator) delivered next door - too heavy for me to collect.

Just before Christmas a large item (TV) was delivered by Royal Mail. We were out at the time. I had to travel to Park Gate to pick it up. Royal Mail are very bad regarding answering the phone to arrange redelivery.

Note left that item was left in specific location, was not there.

The item wasn't suitable and needed to be returned it was too large to go by parcel force and was more expensive to than to keep.

Couldn't give me a time of delivery and I had to go to work.

I couldn't be given an am or pm definite delivery time, it was all day or nothing.

It arrived pm instead of am when promissed.

No one at home to receive it.

Goods left on front doorstep with invoice and hence personal details.

I specifically asked for delivery to commence from a particular date as I was going on holiday. I did not wish to advertise the fact that I was going away. Company sent letter which arrived in my absence asking if a date was acceptable and to reply to them. As I was away on holiday I did not receive the letter hence I did not reply but delivery van arrived anyway and of course I was out. In consequence I did not have goods during the week that I requested and had to longer.

They wanted to deliver a parcel [wasn't sure what and wouldn't tell me] at an awkward time having turned up without warning and gave me "if you're not in this time then we just leave it on the step" - turned out to be the £600 TV which was meant to be being delivered by the company direct and they were meant to ring me and tell me when!

It arrived when I was away from home despite telling the sender I would be at another address.

Delivered to incorrect address so was not there to receive it and had to collect from post office, despite providing different billing and delivery addresses.

Once when it was delivered to home but nobody could sign for it and it was returned to the depot. I then went and collected it the following day.

It was left on the roadside instead of the driver delivering down to the house.

When delivery does not turn up as expected or no delivery time is given and a whole day has been wasted waiting in.

Came without notice and was returned to depot, where they lost it so that the rescheduling online didn't work. No-one seemed bothered when I phoned and it was finally delivered a week late, also without prior notice.

I was told that a delivery would take place on a specific day but no time slot could be given. I waited in all day and the item did not arrive. This was very inconvenient because I couldn't do anything for the whole day and it was a waste of time.

Meant to get a home delivery from Tesco, meant to come at 5pm arrived at nearly10pm!

Because acity link return goods to the sender without even coming to my address. drivers say they have tried twice and put notes through my door to say delivery attempted when this is not true. have had plants travel all around the country but not delivered and other items too.

Most deliveries are inconvenient because of nobody being home to sign for items.

Only told the day that it would be delivered (from 8am - 6pm), which meant someone had to be at home during the whole day. For missed deliveries, picking up from courier offices (e.g. Link) can be a really awful experience.

They said that they were coming in the morning between 9-12 and didn't actually come until 2pm.

Where delivery is specified as any time on a particular day it is inconvenient to be waiting in all day when the delivery arrives late in the day.

Arrived at different time other than expected and I was out at work.

Although I purchased several items to be delivered at the same time, these items were delevered separately, on three different days. One of the items was for my daughters birthday, which arrived too late.

Stated they would deliver on one day then phone on the day of delivery to say they could not deliver, after I had a day off work expecially.

A new TV failed to arrive. Then the courier company 'Business Post' told the retailer it had been collected and later sent the parcel to their dead delivery collection centre. Apart from VERY persistent pursuit of Business Post it would never have been found and returned to the retailer so that we got a refund of almost £600 2 months after expected delivery.

Slow, poor packaging.

The company only delivered Monday - Friday 9-5, were half an hour from where I lived and would not leave the parcel on the step or with a neighbour.

They said that they would deliver it last, which would mean I would just get home in time. When I got home they were offloading my fridge freezer into the back yard with the help of neighbours.

I eventually got the package delivered at work. I have since requested the seller not to use the particular company and use royal mail as in the past, little notice has been taken of this request.

If the postman doesn't leave parcels with a neighbour, they go back to the sorting office which is a long way away and there is no bus service to get there. When you try to ring to arrange redelivery, there is no one to take your call. It is sometimes very difficult to get hold of parcels if this happens! Fortunately my regular postman is very helpful and leaves parcels with neighbours (if he can't fit them through the catflap!).

Arrived a day early - nobody at home!

It was at 645 in the morning.

No precise time slot for delivery, just expected to wait in all day.

I bought something from a site worth 72GBP and it didnt arrive for 10 days. when I went to the site to check my transaction details there was no link. I called there customer service number it was automated time telling service. I was scared till the time I recieved my item if that was a genuine site.

I was at home waiting and the delivery didn't call.

I ordered some clothes that were supposed to be in stock. It turned out they were not and that delivery would be whilst I was on holiday. I phoned the company to tell them not to delvier the goods, and why. They were delivered whilst I was away and put in a bin cupboard. They were not there when I got back and must have either been stolen or taken away with the rubbish.

They delivered at 7.30am.

Some times delivered when not there so they take it back to depot and I can not collect it .

One company I purchased something from would not deliver to an address different to the cards holders address. They gave a vague lunchtime time frame which meant that I could not go out in the morning and then didnt arrive until 3pm!

Once, when I was not in, the packet was just left on my front door. There is a milk hatch where things can be left safely or out of view.

Tried to get it delivered at home, at work and to a fredinds house it still took 7 attempts for me to gte the goods.

It was food and it took them a week after the parcel people lost it do deliver. by that time it was off.

Many times; either item that was requested didn't arrive on time, item requested wasn't sent, something else was, item requested arrived damaged.

I was expecting a pm delivery, went out in the morning, back before noon to find a card saying my parcel was at a neighbours, across the (busy) road and over 60m down, it was nice of the elderly lady who I didn't know to take it in but I had to struggle for several mins carrying with a microwave oven. I carried it further than I would if I'd gone to the shops and got a taxi home.

No one home to sign for it. no otion to deliver to local post office.

It was mixed up with another persons.

No specific day and would have to pick parcel up myself from post office if missed delivery.

Your delivery will only be made Monday to Friday 9-5. (I work Monday to friday 9-5.).

They diddn delivery me camera in 2 weeks time and i had to cancell because I was going away and that way I needed camera.

It was scheduled for a Monday, but it arrived without warning the Friday before, and we were not in to receive it as we did not know anything about it. It then took another week and a half to redeliver.

Why is signing for goods important to you?

Depends on item.

Because it safeguards you and the seller.

It proves whether items have been received.

I feel more confident that the goods are delivered to the right person i.e. me!

Proof that I have received them.

It is proof that they have been received should there be any queries from either party.

It proves that I have received the goods.

More secure process.

You know its been delivered.

To keep a record of delivery.

As this is confirmation that I have received the parcel, or can be used to check if I do not think I've received it.

To prove they have been received.

So it can be tracked and traced.

You know you've received it.

As proof in case anything happens.

Proof of delivery is a good thing in case of problems.

To ensure that I have received them.

Proof that I have received them from sender.

To make sure the goods arrive at the exact address by the person(s) within the household, and packaging is seen to be intact.

Then if you have an issue with it not arriving you can trace it.

Can prove that I have received the item safely.

To make sure that the person recieved their delivered.

It provides evidence of receipt by an individual who cannot then claim not to have received the item.

So I have proof if something is not delivered.

Signing proves that I have received the goods - if I have not signed for something, I can then prove that I have not received it.

It is proof as to wether I have received it or not.

To ensure it is delivered in good condition and as proof of receipt.

Because you know what has arrived and the company know that the right person has received the goods.

So that I know they have been delivered directly to me.

A signature confirms receipt & enables a trace to be made if the package is subsequently lost. The signatue must be printed or legible.

At least then you know you've received them.

Signing for goods means I had actually received the goods, and it can be the proof of receive for sender as well.

I assures safe delivery.

I worry that if not signed for, company could say you received goods even if not delivered.

Signing is a necessary way to determine that you have accepted the item and if any damage of the item on delivery you can report it at that point.

Incase of non delivery.

Because it diminshes the possibility of diputes over delivered goods in the future.

At least you have proof if they do not turn up.

If they are missing, for tracking purposes.

Then noone else can take goods.

So that I and the company are covered.

Because I know that the goods have arrived, so if there are issues regarding delivery etc.

I have had goods left outside my flat which didin't have to be signed for, and they were stolen.

Proof - if I do not receive something then I can prove it by showing I didn't sign -however never had the problem.

If the goods are something of high value or if it is something that may be the wrong size colour etc, then yes signing is important. It could be your only evidence of purchase or receipt of delivery. Not everyone is honest unfortunately.

Because there is no come back if you dont get it without a signature.

To verify the pack is not damaged and to assure the item is safely received.

At least you know when it was delivered and they need to have an answer if they leave it outside it is then not your fault but the compayn.

That way the company and me know it was delivered to the right person/place.

If I have to sign for the goods, the delivery man HAS to knock on the door, not just drop it in front of the door.

If goods have to be signed for they are less likely to go missing before they reach the customer.

If the item is valuable or important, I woud rather know that care has been taken. Also, if there is any damage I can refuse the delivery.

To confirm that I have received them and also good for the company you are buying from to check times of delivery etc.

Because I don't like the idea that the driver could say it was delivered and keep it.

If the item is valuable, I would not like it to be lost in the post.

Find cannot always access back door and no attempt is made to go round to the front even though there is always access, also have had several times when a note has been pushed through the letterbox with no attempt to deliver the item even though someone is in.	Driver does not knock door/come to the right door.

Unable to deliver to alternate address.	When City-Link is the courier - their depot in my area is notorious for delivering to wrong addresses, failing to deliver etc.	No one at home.	Any company that uses CityLink presents BIG problems as they are so inflexible.
Breakage.	Inconvenience of going to the post office to collect which for me can only be a Saturday.	The cost of returning items delivered if not suitable.	City link have proved to be a difficult courier company.
Frequently parcels get left outside my door.	Worry of fraud or identity theft.	If I am going to be away from home for a while, eg holiday or conference.	That I know I will have to arrange to collect from post office as I am unlikley to be in.
No one home sometimes to receive goods.	Parcels left outside attract burgalers.	Non-delivery if there is nobody to sign for the parcel - problems of rearranging delivery.	Having to collect from depot if I am not in.
Risk of damage.	If delivery won't happen until after I need the product I am wanting to buy.	That parcels are just left outside and get taken.	Security.
