MetaPack ships from Africa to UK in one process

London,8th June - From a bespoke online order, to a manufacturer in North Africa, to a doorstep in Surbiton –all completed in one seamless process. MetaPack now ships made to measure garments for a leading department store directly from their supplier. Already a long standing customer shipping from all their UK warehouses, they now use MetaPack’s drop ship facility to ship the custom-made orders directly from their manufacturer in Tunisia.

Making use of a third-party piece of software, it translates the order specifications, received via the online store, into sewing instructions as well as producing an order file which is then fed into MetaPack.

On receiving an order, it is individually fulfilled in the Tunisian factory using MetaPack to interpret the delivery instructions and print the appropriate UK courier label at the pack bench. These orders are then collated and shipped via container freight to a UK depot.

The correct labelling from the outset means the parcels can then be fed into the UK courier system with ease and efficiency as soon as they arrive at the depot. This inverse method of Direct Injection means that orders are individually packed, fulfilled and shipped straight from the source overseas to the customers’ address without the customer even being aware it has not come directly from the retailer themselves. Along with the full visibility of the orders throughout the process, it means the retailer can maintain a regulated standard of service across their delivery channels.

The retailer can also, through MetaPack, predict the exact delivery slot for the customer despite an overseas supply. This further manages the customers’ expectations, increases service satisfaction and reduces inbound calls.

“This is yet another example of one of our customers is using MetaPack in an exciting way, and shows the innovative potential of the system. Now, not only can this retailer keep the delivery time and costs to a minimum for their made to measure orders, through MetaPack they also have end to end visibility from their drop shipper which they had previously not had,” explains Karl Wills, COO.
