UPDATE: Game bought by Comet-owned OpCapita
Struggling Game Group has been saved as part of the business was sold to investment firm OpCapita’s Baker Acquisitions. Game, which trades as Game and Gamestation, went into administration at the end of March, resulting in the closure of 277 shops and the loss of 2,104 jobs.
Administrators PricewaterhouseCoopers have confirmed the sale of the remaining shops but did not disclose financial details of the transaction. OpCapita has bought the remaining 333 Game stores, saving 3,200 jobs. The investment firm said there are no plans for further store closures. The rest of Game’s overseas stores still remain in administration.
